The NBA announced today that the 2015 NBA All-Star game and weekend will be hosted by the city of New York. That’s right, NYC will host the event which will be split between the Barclay Center and Madison Square Garden. The All-Star festivities from Friday and Saturday night will be hosted by the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclay Center and the All-Star game will be hosted by the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
All-Star Weekend has been co-hosted in the past. In 2010, the Saturday events were held at American Airlines Center in Dallas, and the game was played the next night at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in nearby Arlington, Texas.
The game has been in New York five times, most recently in 1998. The 2015 rendition will include grassroots events for the fans throughout the city’s five boroughs.
