Weekend At The Movies: January 10-12

While this is a big weekend for the industry with the Golden Globe Awards airing Sunday, at the Box Office it looks like a calm weekend as only one new movie opening nationwide. “The Legend of Hercules” is hoping that a lack of new competition will pay off at the box office. This new saga about the mythical demigod stars Kellen Lutz (“Twilight”) as Hercules as they tell the origin story of this mythical greek hero. Despite being the first Hercules movie out of the gate this year, I doubt the movie will see the success they are hoping for. For a full list of this weeks movies, see the list below.

Opening This Week – January 10

THE BUZZ: One of the best-reviewed films anywhere in the world over the past year, this Georgian drama missed the Best Foreign Language Oscar shortlist — a highly competitive category that somehow still includes The Grandmaster at this stage. It’s a big step forward for upstart distributor Big World Pictures.
