Spring Gaming Guide: What You Should Be Playing

As half the country suffers through the winter season that will never end, we must look beyond the high temps to get into the spring-time mood. What better way to get over the winter blues than by checking out the latest and greatest in the video game world, since the temps are keeping you inside anyway. Here’s what’s hot for Spring 2014:

MLB14 The Show: Playstation3, Playstaion 4

The Show is now the only game as the MLB 2k series has folded, but that doesn’t mean that Sony is resting on their laurels. Show series has been so good for so long that there’s really no reason to worry — unless you don’t own a Sony system. Provided you do, you’ll find all sorts of new features, including a handy ‘Quick Count’ that speeds up the pitcher/batter duel and what might be the finest beard-rendering technology in all of gaming.

EA Sports UFC (Spring 2014 | Xbox One, PS4)

While the developer THQ has become extinct, the UFC franchise is proving to a survivor as they have evolved into life as an EA Sports property. Featuring 100 real UFC fighters and running on the company’s fancy new ‘Ignite’ game engine, it hopes to do justice to the immensely popular sport – and with the makers of the great Fight Night series handling its development, there’s reason to believe this one has a shot at the title.

Watch Dogs (Release Date: May 27 | Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
[Home Page Carousel] Aiden_NewKeyArt_99828

This was one of the most anticipated releases of 2013, unfortunately for gamers, the game has been delayed multiple times, which has lead us to this Spring 2014 release date. The game is set in a near future Chicago where your every move is tracked by the government. You are armed with a super charged smart phone and a few handy guns as you try to survive in this open world thriller.

Mario Kart 8 (Release Date: May 30 | Wii U)

Giving you a reason to dust off the Wii-U, this family friendly game is not just for kids. Mario Cart provides a high paced competitive game while also adding a fun factor only found in Mario based games. Is’ it worth buying a Wii-U for it, no, but if you have one already, it’s a game you should own.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Release Date: April 29 | Most platforms)
Andrew Garfield;Dane DeHaan

If there is one thing that has been a constant in gaming, it’s been the Spider-man Movie games. Whether you have been Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire, the Peter Parker based games have always delivered. This one looks to push their open-world web-slinging even further with a new morality system and a playable Peter Parker, not to mention plenty of villains to take down, including Kraven, Kingpin and Electro.

New App Promises To Clean Up Your Social Media Life

460795632_640 (1)

In the ever-advancing world of social media, it has become increasingly more important to keep your social networks clear of unnecessary followers and likes that spam your accounts. That is why Ajax, a company known for cleaning products, has created an app that does just that. The Ajax Social Wipes App goes through your Twitter and Facebook followers, likes, and friends and offers to wipe away all those who seem to send you endless spam.

How does it work? Well, for Twitter, the Ajax service rates each of the accounts you’re following, as well as those that are following you, and displays the ones it thinks may be spambots — accounts that were created for the purposes of cramming your feed full of promotional or spammy ad content. From the results screen, you can easily block or unfollow an account or report it to Twitter as spam.

After logging into the Facebook side of the app, you’ll see a page showing everything you’ve ever “liked.” More importantly, what you’re looking at is a tiled listing of every brand or company page that can post to your News Feed. From here you can simply mouse over any of the brand page tiles that you’ve decided you want to wipe out: Click the blue “Like” button and it’s gone.

To use the app just visit and sign in with your facebook and/or twitter amd the app will do the rest.

Facebook Partners With SportStream: Hopes To Promote Sports Chatter

Ever since the launch of Twitter, an online war has been waged between the two biggest social media sites, Twitter and Facebook. Today Facebook hopes they have taken steps to win the war over your 140 characters.

Facebook has long seemed to have the upper hand on Twitter, except when it comes to sports. Twitter has always been the leader in trash talk or do you just see that arena. In a move to grab some social sports chatter away from Twitter, Facebook has partnered with SportStream to close the gap.

SportStream is a company that utilizes its patent-pending technology to surface the highest quality tweets, Facebook posts, Instagram media, stats, news and more for every league, game, team and player across sports. A new partnership means that SportStream can now have access to the Keyword Insights API that anonymously aggregates trends of what Facebook users are privately posting about. They will also have the Public Feed API – a collection of what users are specifically sharing in public posts. Because so much information can be collected, info graphics can be produced to show anything the world may want to know about sports

Facebook is making an effort to be the go to place for sports chatter, and while it will be hard to steer traffic away from the already heavily used Twitter, this partnership is certainly a start.

What’s up folks!? Just coming off that PS4 Release high and have yet to recovery? Well delay rehab for one more week because we have another hit for ya below on top of the new software releases. So without further ado, let’s go!!!

Tuesday Nov 19

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! (PS3, Wii U, PC, & 3DS/2DS). For those that don’t know Adventure Time is a cartoon that airs on Cartoon Network (and a pretty good damn cartoon) well they are releasing their second game based on the animated television series Adventure Time after 2012’s Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?. In this game players strive to save the Candy Kingdom by exploring the mysterious Secret Royal Dungeon deep below the Land of Ooo. Pendleton Ward will be including a “huge reveal,” which will eventually come up in the show, the player will have to complete the game to find.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (PC & already released on PS3, Xbox360, PS4, Wii U & Fri on XboxOne). In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag you are a pirate & It is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established a lawless pirate republic. Among these outlaws is a fearsome young captain named Edward Kenway. His exploits earn the respect of pirate legends like Blackbeard, but draw him into an ancient war that may destroy everything the pirates have built.

Next up is Battlefield 4 (XboxOne). Battlefield 4 is the genre-defining action blockbuster made from moments that blur the line between game and glory. Fueled by the next-generation power and fidelity of Frostbite” 3 Battlefield 4 provides a visceral dramatic experience unlike any other. Only in Battlefield can you demolish the buildings shielding your enemy. Only in Battlefield will you lead an assault from the back of a gun boat. Battlefield grants you the freedom to do more and be more while playing to your strengths and carving your own path to victory. In addition to its hallmark multiplayer Battlefield 4 features an intense dramatic character-driven campaign that starts with the evacuation of American VIPs from Shanghai and follows your squad’s struggle to find its way home. There is no comparison. Immerse yourself in the glorious chaos of all-out war found only in Battlefield.

You know it was going to happen it’s out for every current and the recent two next gen systems, so of course the XboxOne would get its fix as well. Call of Duty: Ghosts (XboxOne). In Call of Duty: Ghosts, the story is mostly told through the eyes of one single character, Logan Walker. Players assume the role of Logan for most of the game, with several other playable characters, including an astronaut specialist named Baker, and Logan’s father, Elias Walker.

Thursday Nov 21st

OBJECTION!!! That’s right everyone’s favorite CAPCOM attorney is back in his 7th installment entitled Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies (Nintendo 3DS/2DS). Dual Destinies takes place roughly a year after the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. The legal system has entered a dark era, filled with false charges and fabricated evidence. The Wright Anything Agency run by Phoenix Wright, who retakes the bar exam to become a defense attorney once more following the previous game, takes on a newly christened lawyer, Athena Cykes, who specialises in analytical psychology, joining his other young attorney, Apollo Justice.

Need For Speed is back with a new installment titled Need For Speed: Rivals (Xbox360, XBOXONE, PS3 & PS4). Need for Speed: Rivals features a rapturous gameplay having some resemblance to 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit title in the Need for Speed franchise with exotic cars and high-speed police chases. Players take on the role of a Racer or a Cop, with each side of the law offering its own set of challenges, risks and rewards. Rivals features eleven upgradeable gadgets such as EMPs, shockwaves and the ability to call in roadblocks. This is the 20th Game in the Need For Speed Series.

Friday Nov 22nd

Mario Party makes it’s 13 entry in to the series this day with a title called Mario Party: Island Tour (Nintendo 3DS/2DS). This installment features seven different game boards, each with its own set of rules. The game offers 81 new mini-games that test speed, concentration and luck. In addition to the board game elements, players will be able to play mini-games exclusively or try their hands at a 30-floor tower climb, AR Card games and StreetPass battles.

Mario is back and with the original crew from Super Mario Bros. 2 but this time on the Wii U called Super Mario 3D Worlds. Work together with your friends or compete for the crown in the first multiplayer 3D Mario game for the Wii U console. In the Super Mario 3D World game, players can choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Toad.

This sequel is 20 years in the making (and one I think is well deserving) a direct sequal to the massive SNES mega blockbuster The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past this time on the Nintendo 3DS(2DS) called The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The game makes use of the 3D abilities of Nintendo 3DS, and allows Link to become a drawing and move along walls.

We finally have a new releases for Sonys PSVita this is more of an adventure puzzle game but based in a world of characters and themes made from paper called Tearaway. This paper world is small enough to hold in your own two hands, allowing you to reachinto the game with your god-like powers and help Iota complete this very special delivery.

This is the reason I said hold of just ONE more week in rehab because boys and girls “Welcome to a new generation of games and entertainment.” The XBOX ONE. That’s right the new generation of gaming starts this day (well it started Nov 2012 with the release of the Wii U but you get it). Just watch the trailer and try not to overdose…

And now the games I’ll just let the title and trailers speak for themselves…

Crimson Dragon

Dead Rising 3

Forza Motorsport 5

Ryse: Son of Rome

(Here’s an oddball of a title) Zoo Tycoon

Killer Instinct

Have fun guys. Also

Check Check Check it Ooooooout!!!!! we are back and full in effect! GameOnRadio! is now on our new home at a new time (Saturdays 3-6pm cst) whith a whole new sounds.  Right know we are proud to bring to you the NEW RELEASES in video games this week…

Tuesday Nov. 12th, 2013:

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag(PS4):  Everyone’s favorite assassin is back but now as a pirate in the year of 1710 here’s a brief description…  “Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established a lawless pirate republic. Among these outlaws is a fearsome young captain named Edward Kenway. His exploits earn the respect of pirate legends like Blackbeard, but draw him into an ancient war that may destroy everything the pirates have built.”

Battlefield 4(PS4): EA is releasing what most are calling “The Call of Duty Killer” in their wildly popular Battlefield series Battlefield 4.  In this installment a Campaign takes place in the year six 2020, six years after what happened in BF3 .  Things between Russia and the U.S. are running at a record high, due to a conflict that has been running for the past six years. On top of all this, China is also on the brink of war as Admiral Chang, the main enemy, plans to overthrow China’s current government; and, if successful, the Russians will have full support from the Chinese, bringing China into a war with the United States.

NBA2K14(PS4, XBOX1): The BEST and #1 Basketball game in the land will be making the leap to next gen this week 1st on the Ps4 then in a week on the Xbox1.  NBA2K14 will add for the 1st time ever in a basketball game the  Euroleague.  Also, a mode called  “LeBron: Path to Greatness which which is a (in our opinion) watered down version of 2K11’s Jordan Challenge.  Here you get to control LBJ’s career as you attempt to win multiple rings (although his future is somewhat laid out by the game and choices are limited).

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus(Ps3): is an upcoming platform game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the 12th game overall (12th game!!! Dammmmn Son!) in the Ratchet & Clank series being the fourth and final installment in the “Future” series.

XCOM: Enemy Within(Ps3,Xbox 360 & PC): XCOM: Enemy Within is an upcoming stand-alone expansion pack (meaning separate game) for the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Within was announced to be released on November 15, 2013. Like the many upon many expansions of the extremely popular Civilization real-time video game strategy series. This pack will retain all of the core storyline but will add a more “broad” variety of content

November 15th, 2013:

Call of Duty: Ghost(Ps4, Xbox1 already released on PS3, WiiU & Xbox360):  Now you know Activision was going to releases it on the new gen consoles (it would have been crazy for them not to) especially with EA on their hells with Battlefield 4.  With this new you take control of Logan Walker known as ghost because of his special mask and military uniform.  The game begins with Elias telling his sons about the legend of how the Ghosts first appeared. Meanwhile in space, the Federation hijack the controlling space station of the Orbital Defense Initiative (ODIN), an orbital super weapon that utilizes kinetic bombardment, and use it to destroy several cities in the southwestern United States. The surviving American astronauts sacrifice themselves to self-destruct the space station and prevent the other ODIN satellites from launching their payloads further inland. Elias and the young Logan and David narrowly escape the destruction of San Diego.

Killzone: Shadow Fall(Ps4): Sony Releases their 4 installment to the Killzone franchised called Shadow Fall for the new PS4.  In this installment your placed 34 years after the events of Killzone 3 (and if you remember that it didn’t end so pretty).  The world is a very different place; two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.  From responding to bold attacks, to quiet infiltrations or all out combat, you will be required to adapt and think on your feet as you have to face a variety of escalating events that could destroy your home world.

Knack(Ps4): Now I must say when this game was announced at E3 2013 this year, us like many other people were left feeling confused as to why Sony SCE would releases this game as a lunch title for their upcoming PS4.  we’ll just wait until it’s releases to give a verdict on it.  Until then hears a brief description and trailer… Mankind must turn to Knack, an unlikely hero, to protect them from a dangerous new threat. The unassuming Knack stands at a mere three feet tall, but thanks to the power of mysterious ancient relics, he can transform into a powerful brute or even a gigantic wrecking machine. Knack is mankinds only hope for turning the tide against the invading goblin army, but trying to harness the true power of the relics could threaten to put the whole world at risk. From Mark Cerny, one of the greatest minds in video games today, Knack is a fun-filled adventure of colossal proportions that invites players to wield fantastic powers and discover a unique and vibrant world,

PlayStation 4: We’ve been hearing rumors upon rumors for all most 3 years now and its finally a reality the PS4 is now here!  We don’t need to go into details just watch this PS4 unboxing video below and bask in all it’s heavenly glory…

There you have it, The New Releases of the week.  Now spend your money wisely.
